Question by William M: Are individual stocks a good place/sector to start spread betting with rather than currencies or commodities?
I am just wondering, I am an investor in the stock market just learning to read company balance sheets, P/E’s EPS’s, etc and looking to start spread betting and was just wondering if individual stocks were a good place to start my spread betting career once I’ve built up some capital and got a job with some practice experience? Also, would spread betting stocks be a better idea than spread betting currencies and commodities, and if so/if not, why?

yes i would say stocks are better than currencies or commodities…. commodities are too volatile and currencies are subject to interference and can move on so many variables like interest rates, fundamentals and technicals. If I were you I would start by following just 2 or 3 blue chip stocks (for which business model you find interesting!) and monitor their movements on a daily basis. Study them and try to get to know them inside out.

What is a good market to start finacial spread betting with capital spreads on a starting balance of £200?

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Question by William M: What is a good market to start finacial spread betting with capital spreads on a starting balance of £200?
I have been practicing since last year on the financial spread betting demo account with capital spreads and I’m looking to go live with it. The only thing is that I’ve lent most of my money to family members and am left with £200 available capital to trade. What I want to know is what is a good market to start spread betting with with such a small sum of money, i.e. a market that has the least volatility, doesn’t move much in terms of £1/point and is best/easiest to trade for such a small sum? Please, I really need your help. This is a serious question. Thanks.

What are some good proven strategies that work when you do spread betting on currencies? What would you do?

Question by William M: What are some good proven strategies that work when you do spread betting on currencies? What would you do?
I have a practice spread betting account with capitalspreads.com and I’ve found that I prefer to trade currencies when spread betting. I want to know if there are any good currency trading strategies to go by if you want to be successful with financial spread betting the FX markets? What do the pros do that makes them make money and win, I mean? Whats their secret?
